What distinguishes a food conveyor from a normal belt conveyor ? Well, the main criteria is usually hygiene. The belt of a food conveyor often has to be resistant to staining, or retaining small particles of food. Both the belt – and the conveyor overall – have to be easy to clean, as they may require daily cleaning. Typically, a belt conveyor for the food industry would use anti-bacterial PU (Polyurethane) belting, and the frame of the conveyor would be constructed of stainless steel or plastic, as both are resistant to staining or corrosion. They are also resistant to penetration by organic liquids or oils, as well as adhesion by food particles etc. |
